This new size hay steamer can steam up to one small bale at a time. Easy to use, it introduces steam to the hay, to penetrate at approximately 100˚C. At this temperature, the majority of fungal spores, bacteria and dust mites present are killed off, and all potentially airborne dust particles are sufficiently dampened down and neutralised, but the hay is still complete with all its vital minerals! Three other models are available.

"The Happy Horse hay steamer arrived for us to test at exactly the right time. Our seven-year-old eventer injured herself and had six weeks of box rest in early June. Subsequently, our 19-year-old TBx had an allergic reaction and also ended up spending time stabled. Our hay consumption escalated to winter levels! Following her allergic reaction, Red was eating very little and also developed a mild cough. This all changed once she was presented with steamed hay - she couldn't get enough and her cough quickly disappeared. We found the steamed hay was in big demand and went very quickly! We tended to steam our hay in haynets and this worked really well for us, but you could fit a complete bale in the steamer. The steamer has been easy to use and we've definitely seen the benefits of feeding steamed hay - we don't miss soaking hay at all! The only minor adjustment I would suggest is the drain plug in the base was big enough for cleaning the unit, but an extended hose with a tap for draining off waste water would simplify this part of the operation."
